These small ants show a high similarity to ants of the tribe Attini but don`t either have a fungus garden nor do they feed on fungus. They are single foragers leaving the nest only for a maximum rage of 1m. But within this range there is a high density of workers with sometimes more than hundred workers per m². Their diet is mostly omnivore with a varity of insects other small athropods e.g isopods or termites. Proatta also shows a preference for other ants like Pheidologeton, Oecophylla or Camponotus. |
